Laurie J. Batter is founder and leader of the BatterUp! Team. Recently named "Power Publicist" by Aquatics International in its "Power 25", February 2006 issue, Laurie was also twice named one of the Top 25 Industry People to Watch by Swimming Pool/Spa Age Magazine. She earned the Eagle Award for outstanding contribution to the Hot Water Industry, the APSP's highest award for an individual. Batter was named to The Who's Who in Aquatic Leadership in the United States by the USFWA for the year 2005.

Laurie is a past chairperson of the APSP Hot Tub Council and the Carlsbad Arts Commission. She served on the California Barrier Code Ad Hoc Committee and the Committee for Every American a Swimmer for Life. Laurie, herself, swims a mile every day and sometimes for charity. She has served on editorial advisory boards of industry publications, and has frequently contributed to the trade and consumer press.
